At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle closed mostly lower in limited trade volume ahead of widespread direct cash business. Feeder cattle were mostly firm on the same factors with some momentum following last week’s higher cash business. December live cattle closed $.45 lower at $120.75 and February live cattle closed $.40 lower at $125.80. January feeder cattle closed $.12 lower at $142.15 and March feeders were unchanged at $143.02.
Direct cash cattle trade is off to a pretty quiet start.
