At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were up sharply, waiting for the week’s direct business to develop. June live cattle closed $2.60 higher at $178.17 and August live closed $2.72 higher at $176.12. August feeder cattle closed $4.32 higher at $255.67 and September feeder cattle closed $4.40 higher at $256.62.
Direct cash cattle trade activity was sluggish again Tuesday. Showlists this week were higher across all major feeding areas. Bids and asking prices didn’t surface.
