At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were higher watching corn and waiting for direct business to develop. October live cattle closed $.95 higher at $183.65 and October feeder cattle closed $2.40 higher at $258.87.
It was a relatively slow Thursday for direct cash cattle business. A light trade developed late in the day in Nebraska at $290 dressed, steady with the bulk of the previous week’s business. Asking prices remain firm in the South at $180 live. Business earlier in the week had dressed deals in Nebraska and Iowa from $286 to $289 dressed, and just a handful deals were reported in Kansas at $179 live. More business is expected to develop before the end of the day Friday.
