Cattle, hog futures lower to start the week

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle ended the day lower ahead of widespread direct cash business.  June live cattle closed $.60 lower at $164.87 and August lives closed $1.12 lower at $162.65.  August feeders closed $.62 lower at $230.10 and September feeders closed $.72 lower at $233.07.

It was a typically quiet Monday for direct cash cattle trade activity.  Showlists this week are mixed, very slightly higher in Texas, slightly lower in Nebraska/Colorado, and lower in Kansas.
