USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Censky says because of current farm income, a third tranche of MFP payments could be considered even if a deal with China is reached.
During the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Monday, West central Illinois farmer Steve Turner expressed his concerns to Censky as negotiations continue for a phase one trade deal with China.
“We want trade, we don’t want aid, but right now the banker is
going to start needing paid and that MFP is a big part of it.”
Censky told the delegation a decision on a third tranche of Market Facilitation Program payments will be made in January.
