China says it will impose tariffs on 60 billion dollars in U.S. goods.
The announcement was made in response to the Trump administration’s threat to raise proposed tariffs on 200 billion in Chinese goods from 10 percent to 25 percent.
In a statement, China says it will defend its interests and impose tariffs up to 25 percent on more than 5,000 US goods.
Trade officials from both countries have said a negotiation is possible despite the escalating trade war.
