Widespread planting delays in many key U.S. growing areas are creating questions about this year’s acreage mix. Normally, a slow corn planting pace would lead to at least some increase in soybean acreage, but AgriVisor senior market analyst Dale Durchholz tells Brownfield that might not be the case this year, because of China and the continued spread of African Swine Fever, “I think that’s still going to tend to still be a suppressent to diminish the interest in planting bean acres, unless push comes to shove.” Durchholz says there could be a net loss of acreage overall, “The real question in my mind right now is how many corn acres might we lose.
