China taps into pork reserves ahead of holidays

China’s Ministry of Commerce reports the country will
release more frozen pork from its reserves ahead of the upcoming New Year and
Lunar New Year holidays.

Chinese domestic supplies have shrunk by more than 40
percent since the African swine fever outbreak began.  The Vice Premier recently said China must ensure
a stable supply during key periods of early 2020.
