Soybeans were lower on commercial and technical selling. Beans are waiting to see what happens in this week’s negotiations with China. Conflicting signals from the White House and the continued spread of African Swine Fever are adding to the uncertainty. In any event, what at one point seemed like a sure deal now has a lot of question marks attached to it and higher U.S. tariffs go into effect Friday. China’s General Administration of Customs says April soybean imports were 7.64 million tons, compared to 4.92 million in March and 6.9 million tons.
