Classical Swine Fever in Japan underlines global disease pressure

The director of the Swine Health Information Center says the detection of Classical Swine Fever in Japan underlines the constant disease pressure pork producers are up against.

Dr. Paul Sundberg says the U.S. hog industry remains on guard.

“We have to look for those open windows and have to close them in every opportunity we can because we want to make sure to the best of our ability something doesn’t get into the United States.”

For the first time in almost three decades, Classical Swine Fever has been detected in Japan.
