An agronomist in northern Indiana says the cold and snowy conditions slowed some corn and soybean harvest this week.
But Rich Haynes with Sound Agriculture says the cold snap shouldn’t cause soybean pods to shatter.
“There may be a little bit of a concern for the later season soybeans, but the majority should be ok until we get back up into the 50s.”
Haynes says soybean yields have been average and corn is doing ok, but the variable weather conditions throughout the growing season affected crop potential.
