Red meat in cold storage at the end of November 2023 dropped significantly compared to year-ago levels.
The USDA says red meat stocks were 11% below a year ago thanks to good demand and a decline in production for both beef and pork.
Beef in cold storage was down 13% year-over-year and pork in cold storage was 8% lower compared to year-ago levels. Pork belly stocks were up 67% from the previous month, but are still running 14% below year-ago levels.
