Cold, wet weather slows Iowa farmers

More cold, wet weather slowed fieldwork across Iowa last week.

USDA’s latest crop update says there were less than three days suitable to be in the field, with activities limited to anhydrous ammonia, manure, and dry fertilizer applications.

High winds also prevented farmers from spraying towards the end of the week.

Topsoil moisture levels are rated 51 percent adequate to surplus, and subsoil moisture is rated 36 percent adequate to surplus.
