The USDA’s largest international trade mission begins today in Colombia. Trade Undersecretary Ted Mckinney is leading representatives from 54 ag businesses and associations and six state ag departments through meetings with businesses from Columbia and Panama. The US has seen significant growth from trade agreements with Colombia and Panama since 2012 and McKinney says there is potential for those number to grow even more. “Never step away from a market. Build on the market. That is what we are trying to do and there is business to be had out there.” Ag exports to Colombia have jumped from just under $1 billion to nearly $3 billion since 2012 and purchases by Panama have grown by more than $190 million.
