Congresswoman says farm bill shouldn’t come at the cost of hungry people

The U.S. House and Senate Ag Committees have released their summaries of the upcoming farm bill, and an Illinois Congresswoman says protecting access to nutrition programs is important.

Nikki Budzinski, who sits on the House Ag Committee, briefed members of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting earlier today. “We want to make sure that we’re not creating a farm bill on the backs of hungry people in this country,” she says.  “So what the majority is putting forward on the House side and the Senate side, I’m going to be looking for as it relates to the nutrition title.”

She says funding for conservation programs is also important.
