Consumer awareness of ongoing challenges facing dairy farms

The CEO of Midwest Dairy suggests dairy farmers might be surprised

by how aware consumers are of challenges affecting agriculture.

Molly Pelzer tells Brownfield there’s broad concern about dairy prices, trade disruptions, and difficult weather.

“As we talk with (consumers), they want to make sure that the milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and other dairy foods that play an integral part in their diet are going to be available. And they are very personally affected by that.”

She says it was telling when Midwest Dairy hosted a panel for children last year that featured a professional football player as well as a dairy farmer.
