Consumer interest in pork products could help prices for producers

The leader of a non-profit says consumer demand for pork could help push prices higher.

Steve Martin with the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska says summertime grilling season will help eliminate some of the excess product. “I think that will drive some of that supply out.  Prices are starting to comeback up a little bit so we’re seeing some rebound in that.”

He tells Brownfield there is more value in purchasing pork for consumers right now.
