Cooler days ahead for the Heartland; rainfall prospects remain limited

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures in the West and Southeast, while cooler-than-normal conditions will be limited to the central Plains, southern Rockies, and much of the Midwest.

Meanwhile, near- to below-normal rainfall across much of the country, including the mid-South and Midwest, should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in the Southwest and adjacent High Plains, as well as the Atlantic Coast States from Georgia to Maine.
