Corn and soybean conditions improve in southwest Iowa

A southwest Iowa farmer says crop conditions have improved after a dry start to the growing season.

Justin Ewalt raises corn, soybeans, and cattle near Tabor in Fremont County.

“We turned the corner as far as moisture is concerned,” he said. “Early on it was pretty touch and go there, but then all of a sudden we were pretty blessed in this area with timely rains that have continued to come in manageable amounts.”

He tells Brownfield some of his corn was damaged by a windstorm last month, but the crop has recovered.
