Soybeans were lower on fund and technical selling. The USDA
says there was a record number of soybeans on March 1st because of
the trade tensions with China. China did buy 816,000 tons of 2018/19 U.S.
soybeans, but that’s a relatively small purchase given expectations. Trade
talks between the U.S. and China are expected to continue next week. Planted
area is seen at 84.6 million acres, down 5% on the year, but that could change if
corn and spring wheat planting intentions change.
