An ag meteorologist says last week’s winter storm across the Upper Midwest has set back corn planting for much of the Corn Belt.
“We are seeing a number of states at least 10 percentage points behind their average five-year pace.”
USDA’s Brad Rippy says Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri are among the states behind in the Midwest, with Missouri and South Dakota lagging the most.
Nationally, corn planting is about 30 percent behind last year and the five-year average.
