Corn planting 84% complete in SD at end of May

There have been some planting delays in South Dakota in the last week due to the continued rains and wet fields.

USDA says corn planting in South Dakota is 84% complete, ahead of average, with 44% of the crop emerged. Soybean planting is 58% complete with 17% of the crop emerged.

Seven percent of the sunflowers in South Dakota have been planted, behind average for this time of the year.

Winter wheat is 10% headed with 73% of the crop rated good to excellent.
