Corn planting delays shadow importance of high-yielding soybean crop

 

While overall U.S. corn planting progress is close to normal, parts of the Upper Midwest are more than two weeks behind because of late April snow and frequent rains the first half of May.

An extension soybean agronomist says while getting corn planted is still the priority, he wants growers to prepare for what could be a chaotic stretch for planting beans.

Seth Naeve with the University of Minnesota says growers who haven’t planted beans are on the cusp of losing maximum yield potential.
