Reports of corn planting are starting to trickle in as fields warm up and dry out across southern Minnesota.
University of Minnesota Extension crops educator Dave Nicolai says some New Ulm area farmers began earlier this week.
“Probably in some more coarse-textured, lighter soil. We’ve had some activity in Dakota County between the Farmington area and Rosemount, again on some lighter textured soils.”
He tells Brownfield it’s a busy time, even for the majority of farmers who haven’t been able to start planting corn.
