Michigan State University has confirmed reports of corn tar spot in fields for the third growing season.
Field crops pathologist Martin Chilvers says the disease has been found in Allegan and Montcalm Counties, and looks like tar is spotted across leaves. “We’ve yet to see what kind of impact it’s going to have on yield, it’s very new.”
He says only one species of the disease has been found in the U.S.
