The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it plans to maintain higher-than-average releases from Missouri River dams over the next several months. The corps says the increased releases are because of the higher-than-average runoff forecast above Sioux City, Iowa.
“When we have those averages, our folks in water management have to do the analysis to determine how much runoff is going to come into those main stem reservoirs, how much we’re going to have to account for from a storage perspective and how much will have to pass through the entire system,” said Jud Kneuvean, emergency management chief at the U.S.
