Growers who get a cover crop on prevent plant acres might be
eligible for Market Facilitation Program payments. The Farm Service Agency’s Steve
Peterson says the latest round of trade aid is not based on individually
planted acres.
“Acres have to be planted,” said Peterson, in an interview provided by the
USDA, “but they don’t have to be to the specific commodity.”
The change is because of prevented planting this year being so wide-spread,
according to Peterson.
