Cover crop on prevented plant acres will qualify grower for MFP payment

Growers who get a cover crop on prevent plant acres might be

eligible for Market Facilitation Program payments. The Farm Service Agency’s Steve

Peterson says the latest round of trade aid is not based on individually

planted acres.

“Acres have to be planted,” said Peterson, in an interview provided by the

USDA, “but they don’t have to be to the specific commodity.”

The change is because of prevented planting this year being so wide-spread,

according to Peterson.
