Cover crop planning window coming up

An extension educator says planting is nearly finished in central Michigan and farmers should start planning to seed cover crops.

Michigan State University’s Monica Jean tells Brownfield, “Beans are almost done.” “Corn is getting halfway and then you know everything else, sugarbeets, wheat looking good,” she shares.

She says the best cover crops are available, affordable, and doable.

“Wheat is a little bit ahead in our area,” she says.
