A marketing analyst says the late start to corn harvest in the Eastern Corn Belt is elevating cash basis.
Angie Setzer, co-founder of the grain marketing firm Consus, tells Brownfield a lot of buyers had expected to start receiving corn by now.
“We’re talking about some of these locations that are well above $5 cash,” she shares.
She says cash premiums vary by location and farmers need to be frequently checking in with buyers if they can deliver.
