A USDA official says expanded access to E15 can help drive down energy prices.
Farah Ahmad is the Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development. “This administration is really focused on trying to keep as much money in the pocketbooks of everyday consumers,” she said. “I think that’s why you saw the (E15) waiver being passed this summer.”
She says E15 helps diversify the fuel supply. “We’re seeing differences in gas prices of about 15 cents,” Ahmad said, “and that is really important.”
Members of the ag industry have recently been calling on the Environmental Protection Agency to approve year-round E15 sales.
