Some missed rains have helped Ohio farmers catch up on planting progress.
According to the latest crop progress and conditions report from the USDA, 79 percent of corn has been planted, a 33 percent jump on the week and 15 percent ahead of the 5-year average. Soybeans are 67 percent planted, up 26 percent on the week and 13 percent ahead of the 5-year average. 39 percent of the crop has emerged.
Winter wheat is 88 percent headed and is 72 percent good to excellent.
