For the remainder of the week, a pair of weather systems will help to focus rainfall across the Southeast and parts of the nation’s mid-section, respectively.
Rainfall will become excessive in parts of the Southeast, with more than 5 inches of rain possible in the eastern Gulf Coast region. Meanwhile, widespread 1- to 3-inch totals should occur in the southern Atlantic States and portions of the north-central U.S. In contrast, only light, scattered showers will affect the eastern Corn Belt and the western Gulf Coast region.
