Drier weather ahead for the West; remaining unsettled in the Midwest, across the South

Additional storminess emerging from the western U.S. will maintain unsettled conditions across the South over the next several days.

In fact, 5-day rainfall could reach 2 to 4 inches or more from eastern Texas to the southern Appalachians.  Wet snow may accumulate across the northern edge of the precipitation shield, starting across the southern High Plains during the weekend and ending along the middle Atlantic Coast on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, drier air will arrive in the West, although snow showers may linger into Saturday night across the southern Rockies.
