Drought continues to impact Missouri’s crops. USDA reporters say topsoil and subsoil moisture levels remain very low, with 40% of the topsoil listed as very short on moisture, 35% short, and just 25% adequate with comparable subsoil moisture levels.
Eighty-one percent of Missouri’s corn is silking, which is earlier than normal. Twenty-one percent is in the dough stage. Overall corn condition is rated 12% very poor, 21% poor which is 6% improved, 37% fair, 28% good which is a 5% improvement, and just 2% excellent.
