RaboBank livestock market analyst Don Close says weather continues to be the single-most disruptive influence in the U.S. beef complex.
Drought conditions forced the early placement of calves into feed yards, which substantially increased cattle on feed numbers, as well as creating the risk of bunched marketings of fed cattle for the summer. And Close says if the drought continues, it could have longer-term implications if herd liquidations start to increase.
