The impact of drought is evident as farmers harvest soybeans in eastern Iowa.
Iowa State University Extension field agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe says yields are extremely variable.
“Looking back at like rainfall this past growing season, you can kind of see where that rainfall actually came. You’ll hear some pretty good yields from one farmer, and then down the road you’ll hear maybe some more variable yields.”
She tells Brownfield another symptom of drought has been small bean size.
