
A commodity firm has lowered its corn production estimate
for southern Brazil by 20 percent for that region’s summer corn crop because of
dry weather, which could have a positive effect on U.S. growers.
The region’s summer corn crop makes up about 30 percent of Brazil’s
total corn production.
Arlan Suderman, chief economist with INTL FCStone, tells
Brownfield Brazil will likely import corn from neighboring countries to make up
the difference.
