Three U.S. pro-ethanol groups say they are in favor of
Canada’s Clean Fuel Standards proposals.
Growth Energy, the Renewable Fuels Association, and the U.S. Grains
Council issued a joint statement to Canadian officials, calling their goal to
reduce liquid fuel carbon by 11% and reducing greenhouse gases by 23-megatons
is both “laudable and achievable.”
The groups say they support Canada’s proposal to raise the
minimum blending requirement from 5% to 10%, and Ontario’s proposal to require
15% or E15 by 2025.
The three groups also urge Canadian officials to be more
specific and transparent about improvements to fossil fuels, and not to apply
compliance flexibilities too broadly, so low-carbon biofuel use is not stifled.
