U.S. ethanol production retreated last week.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.067 million barrels a day, down 27,000 from the previous weeks near two-year high due to seasonal maintenance, but up 24,000 from a year ago as the industry tries to meet demand.
Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development says operating margins for the average Iowa plant improved slightly, holding firmly in positive territory.
The Renewable Fuels Association says ethanol stocks slipped 368,000 barrels from the prior week to 22.86 million barrels, which was 534,000 below last year.
