The USDA’s latest Hogs and Pigs report indicates the hog herd isn’t finished expanding.
Altin Kalo is an analyst with Steiner Consulting Group. “There is an expectation that the farrowings for December-February are going to be about 2.5 percent higher than a year ago,” he says. “That number will reflect the number of hogs that will come to market in June, July, and August.”
Bob Brown, an independent market analyst says each of the last four pig crops have been record high.
