Commentary.
The Missouri House has approved a bill, by a wide margin, that would ban fake meat from being labeled with the word “meat.” The bill says if a product does not come from livestock but from a lab or a plant-based food, it cannot be marketed as a meat product. The Good Food Institute which promotes plant-based meat alternatives, opposes the measure, saying it denies the right of free speech to promote their products.
