Fall fieldwork wrapping up in north Iowa

Fall fieldwork is wrapping up in many parts of the Midwest.

Iowa State University Extension education specialist Dennis Johnson covers northern Iowa and says most tillage was done before winter-like conditions blew in for the Thanksgiving weekend.

“And then I think as I’ve talked to farmers, if they haven’t done the fertilizer and fall application of nitrogen, it’s only by choice they’re not doing that.”

He tells Brownfield some farmers want the fertilizer applied in the fall to save time next spring.
