Farm Bureau touts advantages of real Christmas trees

With Thanksgiving officially kicking off the Christmas decorating season, a Farm Bureau official says buy a real tree. Sarah Hetke with Wisconsin Farm Bureau says, “On top of being an environmentally friendly option, it’s a great way to support our local tree growers.”

Hetke tells Brownfield choosing a real tree also supports local farmers. “Choosing a real tree is an excellent way to support local growers and to be very locally-conscious about the products that you’re purchasing and consumers are definitely showing a preference for local products.”

And when it’s time to put the ornaments away, Hetke says that real tree is more environmentally friendly, and there are many ways to recycle it after the holidays.
