Farmer says crops looking good despite hot temps

An east central Illinois farmer says although it’s shaping up to be one of the hottest summers on record, his crops are looking good.

Tom Kentner grows corn and soybeans in Vermillion County.

“Corn yields are starting to get where you can start doing some estimates and this will be the month for soybeans,” he says. “So the jury is still out on the beans but we’ll see what happens in the next 30 days.”

He tells Brownfield regular rainfall during the summer months has helped.
