A central Indiana farmer is raising waxy corn to increase profitability on his farm.
Danny Gill says it is also a way to mitigate risk when commodity prices are low.
“Waxy (corn) has it’s positives as far as the seed being cheaper, and it’s not a GMO corn so you don’t have to have a special chemical and people pay a premium for it,” he says.
He tells Brownfield raising waxy corn, which has nearly 100 percent amylopectin starch, has been a good business decision for the farm.
