Ohio farmers
continue to face unprecedented weather and field conditions as above average
rainfall has flooded fields, prevented farmers from planting crops, and created
a livestock feed crisis.
Ohio Director of Agriculture Dorothy Pelanda met with farmers this week to discuss the challenging season.
“They look at a day like today and they gamble- should I get into the field and try to plant something which may end up with a crop that’s washed out or a crop that’s very poor because of a shortened season or do I not try to plant and then avail myself hopefully of prevent plant disaster relief,” she says.
