Farmers in east-central and southeast Iowa are making up for lost planting time.
Iowa State University Extension field agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe says cool, wet weather kept corn progress under five percent until conditions improved late last week.
“We saw people starting to get out into fields and kind of test to see if conditions were more fit for planting, and then Sunday into Monday you really started to see a lot more planters rolling.”
She tells Brownfield farmers in her part of the state could be close to finished with corn by the end of this week.
