Farmers are riding the ups and downs of farm bill negotiations.
Chris Edgington of St. Ansgar in north-central Iowa says during the summer many were optimistic a new farm bill could be completed by the end of the year.
“I think most people did not believe we would probably make September 30th deadline, but we would have something by the end of December. Which is really kind of the most critical time.”
The 2022 president of the National Corn Growers Association tells Brownfield it now appears an extension of the current farm bill is most likely.
