The Vice President of the National Farmers Union says the SNAP program reforms are not the only problems in the House Ag Committee’s version of the farm bill. Patty Edelburg tells Brownfield mandatory funding for many programs would be changed to discretionary funding, “so every year, they’re going to have to go back and ask for more money. If there’s no money around, they’re not going to be able to utilize the programs.”
And that, she says, is more uncertainty farmers relying on these programs don’t need.
