Farmland sale breaks MO state record

A state record sale for farmland was set last week in west-central Missouri.

Monte Fenner, an auctioneer from Marshall who sold the land near Malta Bend, tells Brownfield two local farmers bought 115 acres for $4 million. And that’s…”$34,800 an acre.”

Fenner says it’s not only some of the best farmland in the county, but in Missouri.

“It’s deep soil, very high productive and consistent.”

He says the farmers who bought the land owned land within two miles of the tract and it was a once-in-a lifetime purchase.
